Acoustic Knight: An Evening of Quiet Art
Benefiting the DeKalb Early College Academy Poetry Club

(Art Walk 5:30 to 6:15, performances 6:20 to 7:50, awards 7:50 to 8:00)
Tickets: $5 (tickets go on sale Dec 10th at lunch) – Seating WILL be limited
Acoustic Knight is an evening of non-amplified, non-electronic performance and art appreciation. DECA students may perform once as a solo act and once as part of a group act; for each slot, there will be a maximum of four minutes to present original artistic expression that falls into any of the following categories:
- Spoken word
- Dramatic performance
- Comedic performance
- Magic (?)
- Any other approved non-electronic, non-amplified style of performance. (email Professor Custar)
How do I get my acoustic performance piece into Acoustic Knight?
All performances MUST be auditioned. You MUST sign up for auditions (sign-up is outside of C8). Auditions will take place Thursday, November 29th and Thursday, December 6th, from 3:15 to 4:15.
PLEASE NOTE: Prior to audition, you MUST present a copy of any VERBAL components of your performance, and this must ACCURATELY represent your performance. Deviation from proposed performance will not be tolerated and could result in disciplinary action at DECA.
Accepted performers will be notified on Monday, December 10th, and should be prepared to attend the required rehearsals.
Accepted performers MUST participate in two rehearsals: Wednesday December 12th from 3:30 to 5:00pm, and Thursday December 13th (day of the show) from 3:30 to 5:00pm.
How do I get my art into Acoustic Knight?
All art pieces MUST be approved by Prof. Nicol. Entries are limited to two (2) pieces per student, with a maximum of 15 students represented. Art proposals will take place after school from Dec 3rd through Dec 7th; final acceptance notification on Dec 10th; installation Dec 11th and 12th (in the Student Center).
Art is judged by completing the ballot presented when you enter the Student Center with your Acoustic Knight ticket. Performances will be judged by a panel of professors. Acoustic Knight will award three prizes (1st and 2nd place performance, 1st place art) in the form of gift cards -- $20 for first place Performance and Art, $10 for 2nd place Performance.
