Ayomide Olayiwola and National History Day

Capping several months of intensive research - letters, newspaper articles, interviews with experts and more - sophomore Ayomide Olayiwola became the first student in DECA history to advance to the National History Day competition in College Park, Md. She had advanced from the school level to districts and then regionals, steadily improving enough to win first place in Georgia in the Individual Website category for her project on the White Rose Society, a Nazi resistance group. At nationals, Ayomide was one of 3,000 participants from around the U.S., as well as countries such as Puerto Rico, Guam, South Korea and Indonesia.
