am the proud principal of DeKalb County School District’s only early college
model high school. DeKalb Early College
Academy [DECA] opened its doors to mostly first generation college goers and
under-represented populations in higher educational settings in August 2006. As we begin our 13th year in
operation and my 6th as the instructional leader, we are more
committed than ever to best prepare – both academically and social emotionally
- our scholars for full time college by 11th grade and for an
amazing life beyond high school!
an incredible collaborative team consisting of parents, scholars, faculty, and
staff the story of DeKalb Early College is one of a “Legacy of Excellence.” We have been the highest rated DCSD high
school since the inception of the College and Career Readiness Performance
Index [CCRPI] and have been a Top 5 Georgia high school for the last several
years! We vow not to rest on our
laurels. I look forward to finding areas
of continuous improvement with respect to adult practices and of growth for
scholars in 2018-19. This year’s chapter
of DECA’s Legacy will be one of the best yet!
I am thrilled to be the principal of such an outstanding school…with plenty
of upside to explore.
you, as always, to our DeKalb Early College Academy parents and scholars. I never lose sight that you chose to attend
DECA; this act of trust is humbling. We
are grateful to our early college partners at Georgia State University –
Perimeter College. Because of their
dedication, this place runs smoother and aims higher.
